I am a stay-at-home mom of five beautiful children. Madison (7) in 1st grade, Ryan (6) in Kindergarten, Morgan (4), Connor (2) and Zachary (10 mos) at home with me. I love scrapbooking and cardmaking but my kids keep me too busy to do those as much as I'd like.

New Adventures

Well, last night I started a creative writing class at the Fort Wayne Community Center. I basically wanted to do it so I could get out of the house for a couple of hours on my own each week, but I've also always thought it would be neat to write a book. By the time I'm finished with the class (8 weeks), I should have a 5000 word story, so that will be cool.

For our first class, we discussed characterization, but I feel like we just "touched" on the subject. Our assignment is to write a 500 word character sketch and already I'm at a loss. I'm not really sure how to start the character, if I don't really know the plot of my story yet. The instructor said that you can do it two ways, start with the character and build the plot from there, or start with the plot and build the character to fit. I really think I should have my plot first because I don't want to start the character without know what they will be involved in. I don't know, maybe I'm making more out of it than I should. She did say if we had time, we could do two or more characters. Yeah right!! Who has time. Anyway, I liked the class and think I will continue to enjoy it.

Good Eye Ryan!!

Ryan (2.5 yrs) ran into the kitchen this morning, completely out of breath and yelling "Mommy, there's a HUGE ant in ours hallway!!!" Madison (3.5 yrs) and I ran to the hall to see, so we could "get it". I asked him where it was so he got down on his hands and knees and began searching. He found a piece of something, but Madison quickly pointed out, "that's probly just a piece of fuzz Ryan", which it was. Madison and I walked away, while Ryan continued to look. A few minutes later Ryan yelled to us that he found it. So, we both came back to look. Way down, deep in the corner, making it's way acrossed the carpet was the SMALLEST ant I have ever seen in my life!! Too cute.
